Great Ocean Road

Before arriving  to Adelaide I did some traveling with Tanja, another Finnish girl, who´s here on exchange from Finland. Here are some pictures from our trip to The Grampians, The Great Ocean Road and Melbourne

Port Elliot

Just got back home from Port Elliot. It was lovely! And it had the best hostel I have ever been to.

But Australia´s still going weird :) You´re allowed to drink on the beach when all of the families are there, but when kids go to sleep, drinking becomes prohibited :)

Adelaide, the small town in a great city

When I arrived to Adelaide over a month ago I honestly had no idea what it would be like. After a few days of traveling in Melbourne Adelaide seemed small - now it has proved itself great  a city in a disguise of a town.

Things I love in Adelaide: (this list is just the beginning...)

1)The people - you are amazing! Adelaide is a city with a townish feel in it. And this is a heavy compliment! It´s easy to come here, you are always ready to help the stranger settling in. I love it!

2)The FRINGE - how can one city have so much art? And some of it even for free?! Underneath you´ll find a pic of Minerva, she had a great show during the street festival

3)Wine - Who would´t love it? Trips to Barossa, Mclaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills are just around the corner, but we took a false start and found a amazing pop-up winery, The Vinteloper,  on 188 Grenfell St Adelaide. Good friends and good wine. Could life get any better?

4)Bikes - You can bike about everywhere! On Monday morning when endless queues of cars try to enter City, I just wave and pass them all! Especially with SA weather and the inexistent hills - biking could´t be better than this!

5)The weather. Trust me. Finland is different. I love it there too, but this is South Australia.

I saw this movie yesterday - and it did what all great movies do - I just  could not stop thinking about it.

I come from a faraway country where, at least for a great extent, women and men are free and equal. Free to have their own opinions and free to do what they're best at. Living midst equality often makes you forget how precious it really is.

One of the first things I found out in Australia, positively astonished, was that public toilets are actually clean! And for free. And that they have a site where you can actually plan your trip with a toilet map (?!?). http://www.toiletmap.gov.au/

a diary to be filled and a backpack to be emptied

A month ago I packed my life in Finland into one small backpack and sent myself to a journey to unravel at least a bit of the wonders of life. I didn't (obviously) succeed in packing my life Finland as I find it, and have had a marvelous time building a new one here in Adelaide for the next six months to come.

Why Australia? Why this blog?

I am a 27 yr old med school student on the verge of actually graduating from university. I believe life is full of wonderful adventures and I wish to be part of at least a glimpse of the best! I believe life is more than just a box of medicine  and hence have studied some economics and business to seek for the questions yet unanswered. And to find out if life really is like a box of chocolate... Thus I chose not to graduate (yet) and packed my belongings to come to Adelaide.
